I will be bringing with me a Little Dot MK IV SE tube amp to the Houston meet-up in a few weeks, if you're interested in auditioning the pairings. It would be a great opportunity for you to try out other amps and cans as well.

I recently added the Burson HA-160 to my headphone rig in addition to the Schitt Vahalla and Asgard. The Burson kicks things up a notch with the 702. Deeper more well defined bass and a slightly sweeter top end. I feel it was a great addition and find myself listening to this combo on a regular basis, but I still like my tubed Vahalla. Some great synergy there too.

Bass with my 701s is like jumbo shrimp.

This head-fi thread gives the Purity Audio Caliente very positive reviews when coupled with the AKG k701. It had a price drop around Christmas, down to $250 Canadian.

I have  had very good experience with Head direct EF-1 good with Either Mullard or Tung-sol For AKG701/2  and Shanling PH-100 -you loose a bit of Sound stage but bass gets better and a very good over all tonal balance, you don't feel the hollow effect that you get sometimes with AKG.
