My Fiio E9 killed my E7 :(

Thread Starter

After using the E7 with the E9, the E7 doesn't work anymore as a standalone amp/dac

When i have these 2 combined and pluged into my laptop via usb, the E7 seems to work as a dac otherwise i wouldn't hear any sound, however sometimes the sound cuts out and sometimes it just freezes my foobar or my mpc.

And now when i take out the E7 and try and turn it on, nothing happens >_<

Also, when i use these 2 together with my laptop, nothing shows up on the fiio e7's screen, is that normal??

help~ T.T

Hm... this is troubling

I know their customer service is pretty good, but I'm not sure how eBay factors in

Feiao,

I just sent you a PM. My usb port on my E7 broke today when plugging the cable in. I cant find any information on the Fiio website regarding warranty claims and was hoping you could point me in the right direction.

Figured I'd ask here before poking around Amazon.com who I purchased the unit through. Thanks for your help!

If you bought your E7 from Micca Store through Amazon, I would contact Micca first.  When I had problems with my E7, I went through Micca and had a brand new replacement within a week. Their service is top notch. Much better than dealing with international shipping, but costs $10 plus shipping to them.

I have had the same problem too.

When combined the music plays for about 25 secs or so before "lock" flash on the E7 and the foobar gets hang.

Anyone knows why this is happening?

Please contact the seller and tell them that the E7 is damaged by the E9! and marked it on the defective one, so we can contact our agent and

get the defective unit asap! to check out the reason!  Although it is impossible but hard to say anything before we check the damage E7 and

find out what happen!

To other, you don't need to worry about it because we had sold out so many E7 and E9, and so far there are not any return unit about this!

in fact, the defective rate of E7 is not more than 1%, and it is only one report about E9 but we still waiting for the defective unit, so hard to

prove there are any damage!

Also you can have a look at http://forum.miccastore.com/index.php/topic,175.0.html, in fact, lots of component is not to make the sound better

but to ensure the reliability!

I wanted to add a note about Foobar feezing: this program freezes whenever the playback device it is currently using disappears from the computer. It happens when I turn off my E-MU 0404 USB without first stopping the playback on Foobar, for example. So this behavior is normal. What is not normal is the E7 not functioning correctly, refusing to turn on and etc. Based on the trouble reports we've received from customers, the issue described in this thread are very rare occurrences.

Yes exactly, and I suspected that the e7 actually went into a "lock"(on-off mode) mode when connected to the E9.

Could there be some power issues on the circuitry of the E9 as it will automatically charged the E7.

I also noted that the E9 is not very well grounded, quite a bit of static.

The E9 is not grounded - it floats. It should not have any static problems unless you are involving other pieces of equipment that has a reference to ground. Even its USB jack's shield connection is not connected so as to not be affected by any ground reference at the computer. Can you describe your setup?
