Benefitting from NOS DAC design, HM-601 is a warm, natural and musical sounding player. HM-601 has very similar sound to HM-602 because these two players share same D/A converter and headphone amplifier circuit. HM-601 has slightly better bass extension than HM-602, and a little less sweetness and smooth texture in mid and high (A lot of people might not be able to tell difference at all).  As the simplified version of HM-602, HM-601 can not work as a soundcard, and using different op-amps. HM-601 has 8Gb memory. With the high / low Gain switch, HM-601can drive both high efficiency IEM and most full size headphones.

I felt similar at first but less sweet and smooth highs and mids is not an option for me.  My Arrow gives me near perfect tailored bass control should I choose it anyway.

can we have no gift with a price discount?

I really must say the the 2gb onboard is really pathetic

That's generally not how these things work...

I've just noticed that the op-amp used is not mentioned. Maybe the performance is much worse than what I'm thinking right now.

Umm, I don't think so.

I really wish I had not seen this deal.  I need to be saving money, but this is such a great deal.

It's times like this I'm afraid staying on this site is going to lead to bankruptcy.

As nice as that would be I doubt that :P Considering it takes SDHC cards it won't be too much to add on 16gb of memory

I thought the title was 602 and RE-Zero ;p

What are the opamp chips used in the HM-601? Are they the same? Everything appears the same except it come with the re-zero, it has 2gb, no dac for computer, its about 100 dollars less ($259 plus shipping 269.99 and a 16gb sd card about 20 dollars more at a total of $290) than the intro price of the HM-602 at 369.99* plus shipping $390 with re262 so its 390-290=100. Now that the HM-602 is $440 a 170 dollar and does not come with headphones it is easy to predict that the flow of people to the HM-601 with the free re-zero.. If you got the HM-602 with 16gb, re262 and usb dac your still getting a deal if you purchased at the 369.99* intro price because the re262 ($200) are $100 more than the re-zero($100) which will make up for the 100 less difference between the HM-601 and HM-602 and that leaves the usb dac for free which i can not put a value on in a all in one unit.It is still not known what opamp is used in the HM-601 which could make a value difference .....either way i would like to know what op-amps are in the HM-601. I think that the clientele on this website would be very interested in the opamp because that they like to make informed buying decisions on any audiophile quality product.....that's what this site is for.

Judging from the specs between the 602 and 601 are pretty similar except for there not being a dac in the 601 and the opamp chip is not revealed. Is that the main differences between the two? The 602 has a dac and there being some subtle sound signature differences between the 602 and 601 sound.

That's very tempting if it is and I may bite eventually :P

This is exciting, Fang!  If the 601 does indeed sound as good as the 602, people will definitely be in for a treat!

Why do the models still show three buttons? Surely you don't need a DAP/DAC shiwtch if there is no DAC function?

Looks like they've turned it into a 'mute' button.
