I am really into symphonic metal at the moment and there are so many brilliant female voices within the genre.  I will skip over the obvious ones like Sharon den Adel, Tarja and Simone Simons since anyone familiar with the genre will know those.

I really love Elina Siirala's voice in enkElination who released their debut album last year

Another one is Shonagh Lyons of Northern Irish symphonic metal band Selene

Laura Macri who sings with MaYaN is another wonderful singer.  This link isn't from her metal stuff but I still like it

Stepping away from symphonic metal and into blues rock, I love the smoky, sultry sexiness of Colleen Rennison's voice

Some more blues rock with the phenomenal Joanne Shaw Taylor.  Brilliant guitar player too.

This thread.. Without even going through the early pages and only reading since subscribing, I have purchased something like 20 CDs and 10 vinyls.

Better stay away from the "What are you listening to now" thread. That ones a real killer.

Thanks much for the post FlatulentDonkey.  I ended up picking up both singles from Laura Macri and one EP from Selene.  I really want to get the acoustic set from enkElination, but I couldn't find it anywhere aside from their expired Indiegogo.  I would have backed that in a second if I had seen it in time.

Thanks

Not sure if she's been mentioned yet, but I'm currently on a big Lauren Aquilina kick, amazing voice and amazing talent!

I did a search of the thread and found no mention of Debbie Harry which has me incredulous

I've been listening to the latest offerings from Bette Midler. Great recordings and a superb voice.:gs1000smile:

I have been a fan of Deluka for a couple of years and I was surprised to see that they have never been posted.

Older song -

And a newer song of theirs, Home, which was played on a Netflix commercial -

Taken from their website, as I wasn't sure how to describe their music. "Samaris mix glacial electronica and pulse-like beats with haunting chanted vocals - the lyrics culled from nineteenth century Icelandic poems."
