hopefully I'll have more to contribute than a snarky comment soon.  so glad this thread is back.  definitely a few new ones i need to put more listening time into.

I keep meaning to THOROUGHLY go through the entire thread, page-by-page, but at over a 100 pages that's a daunting task.

As far as anything being mentioned twice, I do try to avoid this by using the thread search function but there are so many original recommendations that did not have text name descriptions within the posts, so it's not fool-proof (by all means, feel free to let me know if I've inadvertently repeated any of yours).

However, I do get annoyed, as you've evidently noticed ;-), when people just arrive at the thread and effectively 'SPAM' it by just listing what they happen to like, without making so much as a cursory effort to see if they might be repeating what has already been said a thousand times previously.

I'm not generally the kind of person who takes cyberspace threads 'seriously', per se, (and I'd hate people thinking that I'm that small-minded) but it's just that this thread in particular has grown into something of substance and it'd be nice to keep it that way as much as possible.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to any new suggestions you may have to offer, as you've offered some great stuff here in the past beerchug.gif

Look at it this way though Mython.  Although we 'regulars' have been through the whole 200 pages of the thread (I continue to go back through it from time to time as it's a fun way of picking up anything I've missed) - there are a lot who wish to contribute - but haven't had the time to go through the whole thread.  Therefore if an artist is only mentioned once - she essentially gets lost in the previous 100 pages.

I personally don't mind the repeats (artists) as long as they include a youtube embed so we can quickly experience the music.  Hopefully we'll get some different tracks from the last time - maybe newer albums from an artist that's been posted previously.  It also means that some we may have not noticed on the first time around come 'more to the fore' and have a better chance of getting noticed again.

I guess what I'm, essentially saying is that the more traffic and content - IMO the better the thread is.  Limiting it because of one person's preference ends up taking away the enjoyment for the whole community.

Just my 2c.

Yes, to a certain extent, I agree.

I was mostly referring to those who just quote a list of a few names (which, it so happens, are very often names which happen to have been repeated many times), and that's it. No embeds, no effort at all. Head-fi is littered with such threads.

Anyway...  onwards and upwards!

My favorite would have to be Alison Mosshart.

Not sure what to make of this artist, but I'll let you be the judge.
