THE best female vocals? (your favorite female singers) - Page 99
Head-Fi's Best Sellers
Heheh!, Well, you might recall me offering-up the Puppini Sisters, many months ago:
They have a great version of this 1950's track on their debut album, 'Betcha' Bottom Dollar':
'Mr Sandman' is absolutely not the kind of music I'd normally listen to, but when a work colleague of mine lent me the Puppini Sister's album, 18 months ago, I was blown away by their harmonies and, on that basis, I really appreciate their work, including the track therein, 'Mr Sandman', so that's why my mind is now open to modern-day interpretations of some of the old 1950's vocal harmony tracks, even though they are, on the face of it, outrageously camp and kitsch!
Just for the record, here's the Puppini sisters performing the track in question, and I make no apologies for posting it, coz their vocals are superb!
(incidentally, if anyone is a fan of jazz guitarists like Martin Taylor, then listen out for Martin Kolarides, in the backing of the above Puppini Sisters track. He's a damn fine player!)

Another vote for Birdy. She has a very special voice. I really like her live recordings, particularly Ed Sheeran's "The A Team." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p856dtR4mms
Her new album is coming out in September. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ0Na7STDTQ
