Buggy Zen Xtra with latest firmware freezing up

My Zen Xtra 40GB with firmware version 1.02 keeps freezing up on me during playback ...simply unacceptable. My previous 30GB unit had the same problem but at that time, I thought it was just a bad harddrive.

Has anybody been able to revert back to an older firmware? I thought I read somewhere that the unit won't downgrade to an older version.

I guess I know now why Creative had that promotional sale ($249)on 40GB unit. Too many returns maybe?

I did everything I could, but there's an unbearable high pitched noise coming out of the right output. Changing back to the previous firmware found on creatives site, formatting, changing settings...nothing. So I'm evaluating a karma right now. It's got a couple of quirks, but I think it's the better player since it's so intuitive. The dock is pretty sweet too. Oh and if you check out riovolution.com, the freaking devs, like 8 of them post allll the time...craziness! Hope this helps.

I don't get any high pitch noise on mine, you must have a bad unit. Did you upgraded to 1.02 firmware and gotten crashes? If not, then it must not be a firmware issue that I am having.
