Howdy folks,

 

I've been reading up on DACs, but most of the recommendations I've found don't apply to me since I have never heard a DAC and don't have anything to compare it to.

 

I'm into DIY, and I am considering building a y2 (gamma 2), but I am wondering if it'll be overkill in my situation. I have access to a toslink out. Just wondering if there are any other suggestions that would sound better than a gamma 2 for 250 dollars.

 

current output is:

mobo out - Hybrid Millett Minimax - HD650s

 

Any suggestions are welcome as I am still a big newbie to the DAC section of this forum.
