Some commercial headphone amps, such as HeadRoom's BlockHead, have bridged outputs. Bridged amps require separate ground connections to each transducer, instead of the common ground of standard headphone cables. [...]

(Kevin Gilmore): Dual mono Grado SR-80s have more and tighter bass when driven with the bridged dynamic amplifier, which can output twice the voltage, twice the current (not at the same time) and double the slew rate, giving better control of the diaphragm and a higher damping factor.

The Apheard 47 is a current boosted CMoy that is great for driving low impedence phones like Grados: http://gilmore2.chem.northwestern.edu/projects/showproj.php?file=apheared_prj.htm

Below is a "voltage boosted" (bridged) version of the CMoy, designed for driving high impedence phones.
