Need suggestions for a speaker set

I am currently searching for speakers that come with a control pod (similar to that of the z5500 of Logitech set). I will be using the speakers primarily for music, videos/movies, PC games, and also PS3. The speaker set does not have to come in 5.1, could be 2.1 also. I plan to buy a sound card for the speakers also, so if you have any advice for sound cards it would be appreciated also.

My price range will be somewhere between 100-250$.  I am not in a hurry for the speaker set, so anything that will be coming out in the near future (2-4 months) is fine.

I heard the Logitech z5500 is good, but not for the price, so I’m here in search of advice and guidance. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I think that offer is gone now.

the logitech Z5500 subwoofer sucks badly due to it's uneven boominess

might as well get an Edifier S550 for the same price

or if it's 2.1 you could get Edifier S530D or Edifier S730D

cheaper alternative for 5.1

Edifier HCS5640

I am spoiled, I have a pair of Cerwin Vega's. They can pump some base. (1980's era)

I also have some cheap Logitech 5.1 speakers (X-540) they have served me well.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Does anyone have any other recommendations for speakers?

What about sound cards to pair a nice pair of speakers?
