Soundgarden on Conan

Just caught last night's Conan. It was great to see Soundgarden back and playing live, and Chris sounded better than he has in years, especially without the awful compression of the Audioslave albums.

Watched the clip on the net and liked it. The song Black Rain sounded like old school Soundgarden with the chunky guitars. Nice.

I saw it when it was on (I'm a big Conan fan) and I've got to agree that they (especially Chris) sounded superb. He sounded so good, in fact, it took me a minute to figure out if it was actually him or someone they got to replace him! I didn't know he could hit those notes anymore!

Black Rain is from the Badmotorfinger sessions, and it definitely sounds of that era. Whatever new stuff they end up doing, I hope it has some of that classic sound to it. Down On The Upside was never my favorite. It started off strong, but there seemed to be way too much stuff that should've been left on the cutting room floor in the second half of the album.
