Obviously, red always goes to the right cup. That means blue goes to the left cup. C'mon this is elementary!!

So does this mean you got your HE-4? I hope you're enjoying them! Did you ever get the HE-300?

I had an idea that red went to right and blue was the other but I wanted to make sure.  Ya I just got my He-4 today and I had the he-300 a few days ago.  I sent it back because my wife would have a fit if I had more than 1 HP.  So I went for the He-4 until I can get enough money for my next HP.  I am using the He-4 with a blackdragon cable and the mids don't seem recessed unlike the stock cable.  I'm really enjoying this!

Ooo, I've been wanting to try a cable upgrade. Especially silver. But it's so pricey! Besides, I believe you're supposed to get better low-end with copper wire anyway.

What are you using to drive your HE-4?

Just the NFB-5.  If it can drive this it should be able to drive my next HP.  I got the He-4 used so its broken in already.  basshead.gif  Sounds fantastic!  How are you liking yours?

These don't feel heavy or weighty.  Or maybe I'm just used to weights.

I am using the HE-6 cable which I find to be more ear friendly in a way that it reduces treble a bit and slightly more mid range can be heard. Its not uber bright any more. I think the stock HE-4 cable would work nicely with HE-300 Will try it.

They aren't that fancy, I got two for a very low price. I like the HE-6 cable because its very light, much lighter than the HE-4 cable. I originally got one to try HE-4 with a speaker amp, then after I liked it so much I bought another one because I was sure I would get another Hifiman headphone. And I did.

Hmmm... is the he6 cable available to order on the he site?  How long is it?  I don't like my cords too long. I had my moon audio cable made to be 5 ft instead of 10.  I got a question...Whats the difference of the 4 pin plugs to a normal 1/4 plug?

Yes it is available on their site but its quite expensive, about 150$ I think. I believe its 2m long from the headphone connectors to the balanced pin and another 1m for the 4 pin XLR to 1/4. No difference if used with an unbalanced amp.

Fancy is a relative term I guess. I'm finding it hard to shell out ~$60-$70 for a DIY cable. Considering the sound sig of the HE-4 it's probably best to stick with copper, even though I'm really interested to see what silver can do.

lol ya.  Only upgrades I've done was the moon audio ones.  Blue and black.  Silver is as you've said a bit expensive... but I might just take that dip and go for them when I get my LCD-2

I'm curious if anyone has ever tried to run one of these off an Audio GD FUN?  According to the specs they can serve 1800mW at 50 ohms, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to them than that.

Im using the NFB-5 with them and supposedly the NFB-5 is like the fun.
