Ember is quite a bit more spacious and a bit more textured. The low end is not as smooth and warm as the Vali.

Project Ember (6N1P tube): spacious, slightly warm, very textured, more punchy low end.

Vali: intimate, even warmer, more musical. Possibly a slight sub bass roll off as @Soundsgoodtome pointed out.

When I did my comparisons, it was only a 30 minute ordeal. My buddy brought the Vali over on his way to a different event. I need to listen to more sub bass tracks to confirm the roll off but it did very well with mid bass (I trance quite a lot with the Vali).

Overall, the Vali is not far behind by any means. I still prefer the sound of the Ember but that's because I prefer the instrument separation and space more than the musicality and intimacy of the Vali. Plus, don't forget all the options you have with Ember that you don't have with the Vali.

It'll be a while before I try se on the audio gd since I'd rather listen balanced first, seeing as that's how this amp supposedly sounds best, then ill listen se so I can better tell the difference. I'm better at hearing what I've lost than what I've gained, I get to excited and assume I gained all this magic, only later to realize I didn't, expectation bias ya know. So ill get the balanced cable today, and give it a few days balanced, then ill try se.

What balanced cable did you order?

Really excited to hear your impressions! I'm very tempted to go AudioGD for my next amp, though I have quite a bit of dedication toward Schiit and Garage1217... and G1217 is coming out with a new SS amp later this year!

G1217 needs to make a dac already

and were off....balanced cable plugged in, test tracks in place, only bad part is its a new dac and amp, so dont know where the difference for everything will be directly coming from, but so far so good.

Not sure if its the balanced dac, and a huge dac upgrade from the 40 dollar dac destroyer, or the amp section of this thing. But, I am liking what i hear, quite a bit, good thing is, i have the weekend off from work, so ill get a few hours in to see if my expectation bias holds up, wont make any real impressions right now, but im happy listening to some new gear on an hp that always surprises me with what its capable of.

Its not very flexible from the y down but its a sturdy cable, I wish it had alittle more flex to it, but its not a huge deal.

If I remember correctly, it's basically just Canare Star Quad sleeved with techflex. Happy to hear it's well built since it's about the only affordable balanced cable option out there...

From the y split up its a softer more cloth like material sleeving, and ya there's not many options besides diy for balanced for hifiman. You could just cut the end off the stock cable and go from there. I love the stock cable to much to attempt it though.

I've got one of those Hifiman Cables I'm trying to sell actually, about 3m in length. Made from Canare Cable, feel free to pm me. I'm looking to sell it cheaply xD

Need some help from somebody in this thread.  I just repurchased the HE-4 from Audio Advisor as a Demo pair.  I had a pair previously a couple months ago that shipped directly from China, and when the pads are removed on this pair, there is grey foam covering the drivers that may be affecting the sound.  If I remember correctly the first pair, shipped from China just had a fine mesh covering the driver.  Can someone post a picture of what this is supposed to look like with pads removed?  I think someone has done a mod on my pair from Audio Advisor!  Here are pictures, and they look nothing like my previous pair!

Help please!
