I don't remember the price ever being that low... CamelCamelCamel claims its the lowest it's ever been. I probably would have bought that over my Schiit if it wasn't $400 at that time (hindsight 20/20 blah, blah, etc)

Sounds a little to buggy for me

Indeed, I would've jumped on it, but the AQ DragonFly sounded better to my ears than my Bifrost (non-uber) and most would agree the Bifrost sounds better than the Teach. That said, I'm saving my pennies to buy the Oppo HA-1 (if they ever announce a release date). Otherwise, it's AudioGD if that doesn't pan out. I'm sorta bored with mid-fi/side grades.

A good dac can show the limitations of your gear, from my experience. I am mostly happy with my current gear during my transition. I have to keep reminding myself that jumping on deals prevents me from getting closer to my hi-fi purchase.

Here's hoping for synergy with both my HD800 and HE-4.

So, mrscotchguy, what, in your opinion is a good dac under 600? Usb is a must for me. It'll be combod with the mini x right now, ans really only care about how it synergizes with the he4. Especially since I only plan to move to other planars anyways.

Zach based his mods on the HE-500. They are really great, an HE-500, nope........ but really close in sound signature.

Should have a t50 en route this week, any idea what zmf did? Any copy cat mods?

I never opened them, so no, sorry.

I did my own last summer it became an obsession to get them perfect and I had them open every night, I forgot about the music I was listening to, stopped, and have since remembered why I wear headphones.

great, thats the last thing i needed to hear....

getting some qt in with the 4 after some time off. Man, i havnt been blasting extreme metal lately, at all, but i am right now. I forgot how much can be going on and the 4 still manages to nitpick every last thing apart to where i can pinpoint every last detail. THIS, among other strong points is why, just why i love these things. They do every last thing the magnums did, but "better", for my tastes at least. Thus is the reason, my precious mags are goin to canada...

From time perspective and trying many configurations with he-4, comparing many headphones I can give you all guys only 1 advice - grab second pair of this HP before it's too late, forget about any other hifimans no matter the price (btw HE-4 pricing is super silly)

I have never been with one HP for so long in my entire life, even having extra money now there is NOTHING what would satisfy me so well

Once you get synergy with HE-4 in your rig there is no way back to anything, it surprises me every day, even when I thought I knew it

I'm glad you're here with you hear it, however no one is going to believe you if you ever drop that kinda crazy talk on the other threads lol. No worries, we believe you man.

They're fantastic headphones indeed. I hope mine lasts for some time and will keep an eye for used pairs in the future.

On another note, I present to you a temporary test of thick angled pads. A combo of stock hifiman velour and stock d2000 pads wrapped together. I call it the Deniman Tofurkey pads.

I wonder how they sound...

ell that didn't work. Need to cut longer tubes, not just exact fit otherwise its a PIA to fit the pads on. Try again tomorrow
