Is it really? So its 499 USD (50 USD more than he HE-4) basically for a new headband? Has anyone else heard this?

The drivers are redesigned too, the HE400i and HE560 are not just new headbands.

Ah, I suspected that too! I wonder how these will sound compared to the HE-4. I'm considering moving from my HE-400 to the HE-4, but maybe waiting for this might be a better idea. Thoughts?

With these new models announced, I think it is VERY unwise to buy any older models until we have some serious reviews and impressions dictating how improved/not the new models are.

^^ Or you could look at it like this. It's a perfect time to get a good deal on a tried and true model. Given HFM history of several revisions this might be the safer route to go.

Depends on if HFM decides to discount their current models in preparation for these new ones or not. I have a sneaking suspicion they won't, since the 400i and 560 are already priced well above their respective older counterparts.

Whatever I am really happy with my HE-4s at the moment. Not going to let upgradeitis strike again.

Given the weight, I am guessing the two new models are both using updated single sided drivers ala HE-4.  I recall HiFiMan mentioning at one point that they wanted to streamline production the drivers the same way the did with the HE-400, so I suspect that is the case here but I'm kind of disappointed if this is true as the goal was to drive cost down.  I think given the ergonomics of the new models, they could become pretty popular as long as they sound good, which given their track record I am anticipating so :p

Yeah apparently they are tuned in a similar way to the HE-4 from the early reports I am hearing. Airy and transparent.
