Possible to use the BX5As with the AV40s?

My friend recently bought the M-Audio AV40s and is pretty satisfied with them. However, he may want to upgrade to the BX5As in the future. He was wondering if he could somehow link the AV40s to the BX5As  so it can be use as a 4.0 system?

But why? That hardly makes any sense to me. Hook it up in what way? Do you just want to play both in stereo configuration or are you actually talking about surround configuration.

If its just stereo on both pairs, run a splitter to each from the source.

If you want to make a surround system out of those, I dont think there is any easy way to do it, what would be the source? A receiver? In which case there is no way you can connect those directly to it anyway. If you open them up and bypass the amp and run straight wire to the speakers you can use them as passive speakers but I hardly think thats worth the trouble.

I don't know. He just wanted to know if he could use them in conjunction. Thanks for the quick response. I really appreciate it. I'll have to invest getting myself a pair of the BX5As in the future once I get my pc rig built.

Edit: Are there any good subs to go with the AV40s?
