Yep, the first clip on generation shuffle is also an excellent choice.  The battery in that little thing is astounding!  I have had mine for years.  I can actually leave it in a drawer for 2 or 3 months on end.  Take it out and get an hour to an hour and a half of straight play time.  Sound quality is ok, but like the previous poster said, it's no so much about sound as maybe motivating distraction. 

 

I personally use the new nano clip on which I like just fine.  I think it has very good sound quality for an ipod.  Good power output.  I really like it because it's so portable and the Nike + system is built in.  The battery in it is horrid!  In fact I think it gives off false readings when charging.  I can charge it for a little over an hour from a completely dead unit, and the battery indicator says its got a full charge.  I know that's not accurate, so I usually just keep it charging for a few hours.
