If I hadnt heard the latest Shuffle, I would not have questioned the review in 'T3', a style-over-substance mag aimed at hipsters, esp when they pointed to 'puny sound' as one of the downsides of the player. Combine that with the 'ooh aah' desription of how tiny it is, it was clear that the reviewer hadnt even tried to clip the thing on to his/her clothing, much less actually listened to it. I would dearly love to DBT this clown with several current players, including the iPhone, and see if he could identify the 'puny' sounding Shuffle from the rest of them.
As I've stated before, the Shuffle is useless for anything beyond a 'proof of concept' demonstration that someone at Apple is capable of building a decent digital amp, but seeing reviews like the one above annoys me. Steal a shuffle from a tween relative, transfer some lossless files onto it and make your own call.
