I'm ordering the Woo WA22 tomorrow. Should I get tube upgrade all or partial, wait, or get... - Page 2

I agree with Olias.  If you are not going to tube roll, I'd just get an Emission Labs 5U4G and the Princess, skip the Sylvania 7236's and call it a day.  I'd stay away from the Sophia, even if you have to run with the stock rectifier for a while.  I  got the premium upgrade from Jack as it is listed on the web site when I got my WA22, and did not like the Sophia or the Sylvania.  The princess is a good tube and I would get it from Jack, ditto the EL5U4G.  He is very easy to deal with, and if there is a problem, he will do whatever it takes to make it right.  When I replaced the Sophia with the EL5U4G it put everything on a whole new level.

If you are going to tube roll, Olias is right, the baseline is important; if you move too many tubes around at the same time, you'll never learn what each tube brings to the party.

I ordered a few weeks ago and am waiting (although my initial confirmation said "one week" which I didn't believe even then, must be a stock instant pop-up).  I ordered separately the Shu Guang 50 year matched treasures in the box and have those already.  I'm waiting for the EML from Tubes USA.  The power tubes I've done nada with.  T-1's coming w/the order.  I just need to order the Wyred4Sound Dac2 and I'll be done.

What color did you get, silver or dust magnet?

Silver.  I wanted dust magnet for a long time but then the silver looked the best to me.

Anybody use the Tung-sol 5998 for the power tube in their WA22?

I use them alot now depending on other factors such as which drivers I'm rolling at the time. Lately, I use the TS 7236 and TS 5998 (sometimes Sylvania 7236) with either some Sylvania 6SN7GT (true bad boys) or some Sylvania 6SN7W metal base and TS 6SN7GT oval plates. I only have one rectifier choice at the moment, an EML 5U4G mesh plate.
