iPod Touch 4G or Cowon S9? - Page 3

U love apple now?

A lot of users, myself included, made a EQ setting with  frequency either turned up all the way or turned down all the way. When we transfer the songs over to the ipod, the song does not sound harsh and sounds like there's no change.

Try this yourself and tell us if you really hear difference.

That way, there's less chance of placebo effect.

Good luck with that...a ton of people here will need convincing, because it's been debated many, many times.wink_face.gif

I'm neutral on the whole thing....I don't use iTunes, so I have no idea whether or not it works...but I don't know how you would go about convincing people that it works.

I shall stay tuned, however!

Unfortunately the only way is for them to try it out themselves. I heard how to from another head fier and it works. It does a decent amount to improve sq, but I still feel the glaring need for a lineout amp for them to be acceptable.

A custom EQ setting is only possible in the iTunes software, and is not transferable to ANY iPod. It's possible to set a custom EQ for each song using the presets, but that's about it. No matter what you may think, it's not a feature Apple allows - and you can search the Apple facs for the iPods and find the conformation for yourself, as I'm not about to search for it and link to it again,...for the 10,00 time.

So, in a nutshell, NO CUSTOM EQ ON AN IPOD!!! Everyone would be raving about it if it we're possible, and it's not. And I've tested it before, along w/quite a few other iPod owners I know. It doesn't work.

Maybe it's something that only works for iOS 4, but I know for a fact that it works on my iphone.

Hrmm, I'll double test it to make sure I'm not going crazy...

EDIT: I am going crazy, and looking like a fool. Sorry for spreading blatantly inaccurate notions.

make sure you try with some obscene EQ settings so it's easier to differentiate

Lesson learned, next time I'll double check something controversial before being so sure about it.

What are all the Cowon S9's features?

plays video, pictures, music, FM radio, plays flash content (although I heard this is tricky), and has bluetooth...thats basically it

i have iphone 4 and cowon j3 but i say for music-only - i say go for the cowon. sound is terrific with enhancements.

but for entertainment including video, get the ipod or iphone 4. The screen on j3, and I'd expect same for s9 is too small to watch anything over 2 minutes imo.
