What to do with my broken Sony D25?

I got this new as a gift long ago but it no longer works. When I plug it in to the power supply and try to play a CD the LCD lights for a second and turns back off. Maybe the motor is dead? Anyway, I'd like to ressurect it if anyone knows of a place to repair it.

first, try to fix it...have you read "The DIY Discman Repair Thread" ??....then if you can not fix it you could try to find another d-25 and use your currently kaput player as donor to build a turbo d-25 ......i need more people to join me in the turbo team

Hello,

Contact a local, authorized, Sony repair center if you really love this unit, they might be able to adjust it if it is simply an adjustment problem. If critical parts are required (laser, motor, control chips), the parts are probably unavailable -- even from Sony.

Otherwise:

Could be bad motor. Does the disc spin at all? If so, does the disc sound as if it is turning fast?

Could also be misalignment. See the sticky for Discman repair thread.

Could be a bad laser. If this is the case, unless you *love* this unit, it is probably a parts donor.

Best regards,

Paul
