Can I use the iPod USB data transfer cable for my LOD? - Page 2

Ok, sounds good!

And yes, I'll manage it. I haven't done soldering before, but I'll be sure to do a few practice runs first.

When I'm new to a project like this, I prefer to ask all of my questions before hand (no matter how stupid they sound) in order to be sure I don't end up with doubts that eventually lead to error.

Thanks for the help!

Alright so the parts have finally arrived and I have a few questions.

I was getting to work on the pins, pulling all of them out except for 2,3,4 and 11,15,16. However, I accediantaly pulled the pin out of 11. It doesn't seem to want to go back in all the way.

I get it in halfway, and then no matter how hard I try, it won't go in all the way. Can I leave it out halfway and still solder the wire from 11 to 15/16? Also, How do I solder from 11 to 15/16, would I need to use two wires? Or just solder a big enough blob so it covers both 15 and 16?

I took a photo to show you, see how its halfway in, but not quite in. Is it still ok to solder to?

youve tried to put it back in upsidedown. the bump on the tip of the pin should be pointing down out of its groove when you are looking from the side that plugs in. no you cannot have it half way, it will make no contact with the surface in the ipod unless its in all the way
