Travagan's Red Issues -- Something shorted/fried?

So, I actually found something really quickly. It's only 24v@1.8A (from a digital camera) but that's close enough, I think -- assuming it was regulated. It has the same problem as the stock one did: everything is staticy, and, when left on for a while, it starts stuttering. This is mixed with a mild burning smell, akin to that of a soldering iron. I'm thinking that something is shorted inside.....hopefully, reperably?

So, how do you get it open?

Does it sound like any specific problem? Can I not know until I open it? Can I contact Travagan's for servicing? If so, how?

The irritating thing is that I actually toasted my Headroom amp by using an unregulated PSU, and it gave the exact same symptoms -- which is why I was thinking it was the PSU's fault.

I know very little about power supplies or stuff like this, so I'm not sure where to start.

I think I need a new power supply for my Travagan's Red amp, but I'm not sure what to get.  A quick eBay search resulted in several listings for regulated power supplies, but, obviously, I don't want to cheap out. I know enough to know that not all power supplies are created equal, and that the power rating doesn't tell the whole story. I want something I can be confident in, that I know is good.

So, anyone know if I can purchase a replacement from Travagan's directly, or something? Is there a power supply out there that would give the 24v @ 2 amps that I need?
