After four glorious years, my 4GB iRiver Clix looks like it's about to bite the dust. Since you are the audio wizards who led me to the Clix in the first place, I'm hoping you can help me find a suitable replacement.

If you loved and lost your Clix, where did you turn next? What would you recommend? And based on my love for that rock-solid little player, could you help me find a good replacement player?

Things that I liked about the Clix:
Lovely audio quality
Intuitive UI
Long battery life
FM radio (nice, but not necessary)
Shuffle capabilities (kind of a lame thing to admire, but I really liked its shuffle by song/artist/album function)

Not really important to me:
Touchscreen
Support for media other than audio (video/photo, etc.)
Extensive file support (I'm mainly mp3 only)
Extensive EQ settings

Basically I'm looking for something with a very good audio quality --- but that doesn't require me to be constantly fiddling with the EQ settings (I pretty much set my Clix on SRS WOW and left it there forever.).I also liked the fact that I could navigate from screen to screen in traffic by touch without looking at the thing (it clicked! it cliiicked!), but I'd be willing to work around that. Also, let's be honest, it was really cute too. If it matters, I play a lot of electronic and dance music and funk / soul.

My budget ballpark is ~$200, but I can be flexible.

Thanks in advance for your help, audiophiles!

but recently i picked up the cowon s9 32gb for 200$. I think you should give that a look or the newer J3. the s9 has really good battery life. I never gotten 55hrs out of it but i did a test once i got it and it played for almost 2 days straight and it was still playing when i turned it off. and you can control it w/o looking at it. it has buttons for vol -/+,pause/play, fwd/prv. on top of the player i can use it w/o looking at the player.  and it has plenty of EQ options with 4 users settings. happy searching

Bought 4GB clix in 2006, update to Clix2 8GB in mid 2007, disappointed by iriver and switch to Sansa Fuze 8GB at 2008. Now I use Hippo Gumstick / Cube C30 most of the time. It is not an upgrade in features as my only requirement is SQ improvement. If you want a refined DAP, Cowon seems to have most of it covered.
