I'd spend $500 more and retain my "upgradeitis" peace of mind.

Not sure, but I think this is a mistake on C-3 page... So called "fission" PSU-s are TOTL regenerative PSU units available (only?) in and for HE units. If you give a look at C-3's PSU module you can see it is very very similar to Phoenix's PSU module, and I'm pretty sure Phoenix does not have regenerative PSU (although it has really good PSU on its own).

Of course, nothing (beside price increase?) stops you from ordering C-3HE, RE-7HE or NFB-7HE... and getting the ultimate PSU A-GD offers for their gears. Just look for the "HE" suffix.

The Fission is available for the C-3, but that might not be the correct picture.  I think the C-3 was the first product to have it available, not positive though.  Kingwa also made standalone regenerators, similar to a PS Audio PPP, but not sure if he will build them anymore though because they are so heavy to ship.

And if you were going to spring for a model like the RE7HE, you might as well go all out and mail him high[er] quality caps to install for you as well if you have the budget.

Still reading you guys....and you have put a doubt in my mind, as well as Kingwa....

He suggested I should go unbalanced as my headphone amp and my HD800 are not balanced and I have no intention going that way.....but I thought that the Sabre chip was THE chip to buy in audio... but I might be wrong...and if I am, maybe I should go for the Ref 9 !!!

Don't get discouraged guys...I'll eventually make the move.....just trying not to make a mistake !!

Denys,

I thought the ref 9 is obsolete.  Please correct me if need be.

Thanks,
