Hi

Im looking for some good computer speakers which are under £100 in value, it would be nice to go 5.1 however i have nowhere to actually put the rear speakers and i want the best sound quality and bass. I was considering either the logitech x540 or the harmon kardon soundsticks 2. It will be connected to a creative 5.1 usb sound card.

What will you use them for gaming/films or music listening or all?????

sorry i shouldve said, I'll be using them for all three pretty much, Ive got quite a few games on my pc and not just multiplayer games, good single player games such as dead space etc and I will be hooking up my ps3 to this system as well so I'll be watching blu rays on that and I will be watching dvds on my laptop too as well as listening to music while i surf etc. I mainly listen to rock and my last.fm profile name is arj154

Ok look at the Xenta XForce 5.1 Multi-Media Surround Sound Speakers , have alot fuller sound and cleaner crisper highs than the logitechs.

i owned the creative T6100's before however the power adaptor broke so what are these speakers like in comparison? Also would it be better to get some proper 5.1 speakers seeing as i have a optical out port on my creative x-fi 5.1 usb  sound card?

I never heard the creative T6100, i heard the Xenta XForce 5.1 briefly they had alot fuller and cleaner sound with clear highs compared to most 5.1 sets there wasn't the usual lack of midrange, the bass was a bit muddy at times though it's still a very good sounding 5.1 set especially for the price £60 worth every penny.

Then I think you should stick to a 2.1 kit, like the Swans M10. No use having a 5.1 kit if you can't position it properly.

But gaming and watching films is a much better experience on a 5.1 set, i have a samsung 5.1 set for gaming/films and a edifier 2.1 for my music.

i cant find the swan m10, i dont think there availible in the uk and tbh i could possibly position the rear speakers on my bed or something. Im tempted to go with the speakers originally suggested as i've found them for £50 at ebuyer

Can you find Edifier where you live? They're better than Logitech...

Edifier's are avaible in the uk, there about 1000 times better than other 2.1 computer sets, they don't have many 5.1 sets in there range other than the s550 which is £300.

Go for the logitech z-2300, if you like big heavy bass you wont be disappointed.

If you like big boated mid-low 1 note bass and no midrange then yea, the 1 good thing about the logitech is it can add masses of boom to anything, my set is now sitting in the cupboard unused, listing to the same note of bass all the time got boring and the lack of midrange annoying.

sorry for the very late reply but i completely forgot to check the forum and i've been fairly busy. I found the edifier M1550 for £40 and they seem to have good reviews but there arent many reviews by audio junkie's such as yourselves so has anyone had any experiance with the edifier M1550? I think its mainly between them and the xenta 5.1 speakers also has anyone used these the Xtune 5.1 system?

I'd rule out the edifier's it only has a 4inch sub, there won't be much low-end, the XTune 5.1 has loads of good reviews i'd go with that.
