Recordings made with Joe Grado's new microphones?

I was just reading about Joe Grado's new microphones and thought it would be interesting to hear what they sound like (or how little they sound like anything wink.gif.  I have yet to hear a headphone that is as true to life as his HP1000 and some of the reviews of the mics sound the same way.

If I could only use one word to describe the HMP-1, it would be “natural.” Never have I heard a microphone capture sound moving in air with this degree of precision. During a recent classical piano recording project, the pianist said, “It sounds exactly like it does while I’m playing the piano.”

If you are looking for a big, fat bottom or a sizzly top end, this probably is not the mic for you. Now, if you are looking towards gaining total accuracy, you owe it to yourself to check out the Grado HMP-1 Recording Instrument.

Anyone know of any recordings made with this microphone?  Or his other huge globe mic for that matter?

I don't know of any high quality recordings (meaning not YouTube quality), but this was posted a while ago.

Nice pick on the Samantha Crain video.

His mics are comparable to any other recording using a spaced high accuracy omni pair of mics. I have heard the recordings and that's exactly what they sound like.

So they're not as special and one of a kind as his headphone was?  He talks about them the same way, so I was expecting them to be equally unparalleled.

Just wait until your LCD-2s arrive.

Well, it's hard to say, of course, but I don't hear anything special going on with that mic. Maybe nicely balanced...

I have a CD of test recordings Joe made with his new microphone. Mostly consists of one or two instruments short pieces. It sounds amazing to me. Then again I'm no expert in mics and not sure if it's partly due to the fact that it is a first generation recording.

I don't need a free download, I'm happy to buy an album.  I liked those songs in the youtube videos above a lot, what are those from?  I couldn't seem to find the songs in any album on Amazon.  There must be other albums out that have used his mic?

I don't think so. His headphones are very special. The microphones are great but not one of a kind special. I have heard jazz, classical and some pop recordings made with his mics. They honestly sound like any other very detailed omni mic spaced array. I'm in no way putting them down at all, but they aren't that special.
