Headphone with onboard amp?

I've been lurking these threads for a couple days and I think I found a new hobby.

I've seen amps in candy boxes and bigger cigar boz sized ones. Thats portable? I would think somebody would have thought of some how fitting two amps in the earcups, one amp for each ear.
The smallest amp I've seem dosen't look much bigger then a disposable lighter.

Is it possible? Is it practicable?

Most people here are concerned with sound quality... though bigger does not necessarily mean better, if your cans are high impedance and relatively inefficient (think Senns) you need more power (batteries) to drive them well, which = larger size.

As for an amp inside a headphone... possible, yes, practical, not a chance, the tweako mental patient inside all of us would want to mod or replace it immediately/eventually
