Beresford dac any good as a headphone amp (or do I need a separate headphone amp)?

Hi,

I have just taken delivery of a pair of sennheiser hd580 precisions.

They are attached to my beresford dac which has a headhone stage, see here http://www.beresford.me/products/TC-7520.html

but I feel something is lacking compared to my normal speakers.

Question is I guess - how good is the beresford? & would a seperate amp (such as a mf xcan) improve things much?

Anybody know the beresford??

Beresford makes a good product, but they are not respected around here due to the owner using false IDs on the forums to hype up his product. You will need to search some other forums to find out if it is a product that suits your needs.

You should have submitted this in the amp forum versus headphones.

It's decent for the price, but you're not paying much for the amp section given that it's main purpose is a DAC.  Your HD580 will sound a lot beter with a better amp.  But they won't change completely.  If you want them to improve, get an amp.  If you want a different sound alltogether, get different headphones.
