What would you do if you could no longer enjoy your hobby? - Page 2

Yep, I've got several hobbies, so I would focus on the others. As much as I like this one, if I could no longer enjoy it it would eventually just fade off. One day, you'll (not anyone in particular, just as a general "you") be a grandfather and you can tell your grandkids about your escapades with headphones and amps.

Retire in a little shack on the beaches of Zihuatanejo and maybe buy a boat.

Sell off the less useful gear and reinvest in another hobby. Like another poster said, guns, watches, knives, flashlights, kayaking... When one door closes, another has to open up, right?

Sell my headphone gear and spend the money on photography stuff.

Freak out and hyperventilate, but in the end probaply nothing. There are plenty of things you can enjoy without hearing (allthough some of them would be seriously hampered by it). Now, if I would lose my eyesight permanently I would probaply kill myself on the spot unless restrained somehow (and keep me restrained smily_headphones1.gif ). While technically not a "life ender" and some people can learn primitive echolocation, all things my life is surrounded on and what I hold dear definetly requires eyes and losing those I would be quite lost and depressed in life...

So thats why I take eyeprotection things quite seriously in life and work.

This is depressing to think of, but after the initial shock, denial, sadness, anger, depression you will reach acceptance and find other hobbies to enjoy. Similar to dealing with loss of a loved one I think, except the Guilt phase, which to me was one of the hardest to deal with.

Interestingly, I go to a college whose population is 5-7% deaf, and live in a dorm of about 30% deaf students. Those who are deaf, even those who lost their hearing late in life (a majority of the students), are endlessly optimistic about it. In the deaf culture here, it is considered improper to call deaf students "hearing impaired" simply because they do not believe it to be an "impairment."

I'm sure the same thing could be said about blindness. It's all about your approach to life and your willingness to move on after tragedy. If you try to find new ways to be happy, you can always be happy.

If you have the will to live anywhere can be a paradise! -NGE

I think I'd rather be blind than deaf tho. . . I'm already half blind anyway and I have to wear glasses to see anything. . .

Become a videophile?

I'd be extremely depressed because I would be unable to listen to and play music.

After I got over it though, I'd probably get into photography.

What would you do if you could no longer enjoy your hobby?

Impossible since my hobby is upgrading my battlestation (cpu setup), and hoarding headphones. and every week, month there's something new. but if that time comes. I might go out for a change and go fishing or something learn how to play the violin, dance tango in argentina, ride an elephant.. you know simple stuff

If I went deaf, I would be tragically depressed, but I would manage and cope the best I can. If I went blind, I would kill myself. Simple as that. That's pretty much all I have to say about that.

I'd pick up the hobby of cross country biking. I always wanted to bike for a wicked amount of miles, and it would keep me healthy and slim.

X2 for biking, as I enjoy it in all forms (mountain and road). However, running is my other love, and I think I like it even better than biking. Especially trail running; I probably could call it mountain running...

I don't even want to think about it....
