I don't really know much or care much about the Neuros, but why does everyone make such a big deal about how slow USB 1 is? I suppose it depends on how one uses the device, but so what if it takes overnight to load up 15 GB? I've got an older 20 GB HD player with USB 1, and guess how many times I've loaded 15 GB of files at once: once. Now I just add one or two CDs worth of music from time to time, and occasionally delete something I don't listen to much. This isn't a flash player where I'm loading my playlist du jour every morning.

Sure, if I had the choice I'd take USB 2 or Firewire, but for me, USB 1 is not some big hardship. I guess if I were regularly making gross changes in the files I have stored on the device, I'd feel differently, but for me its just not a big deal.

Kind of a moot point now, with virtually all current players using either USB2 or Firewire, but let's keep some perspective here. USB1 is not the equivalent of rubbing two sticks together to make a fire to cook your supper.

USB1 is so slow I can't even stand it. For transfers, I mean. I sold my iRiver iFP-390T for exactley that reason. Took like half an hour to change out the music before I hit the gym. Nooo thanks. Great little player otherwise.

I guess if you never plan to have than 15gb of music, load it once and you're done. Personally i have a lot more than that, and need to frequently change out the music on my players. USB2 or Firewire is an absolute requirement. The only reason to go with a USB1 player, at this point, is because they are at the bottom of the bargain bin now...

We're in synch, austonia. Depends on how you use the player. And I agree that the only reason to consider a USB 1 player is if it has the price or some specific feature that makes it attractive to you.

IIRC, Neuros is going through some kind of model change or company transition, and are selling their 20 GB models for $199. Still, given the fact that I've seen some pretty good deals mentioned on the Karma, I'm not sure I'd go that direction, but if the price for the Neuros were $150 and I needed a player, personally the USB 1 issue wouldn't scare me off.

agreed. at $160 the Nueros would be an attractive deal, even with USB1. That falls into gift range. But at $200 or close to it, no go, there are just too many good players in the low $200's now. Creative players fall in this catagory.

I've seen the Creative Nomad Jukebox 2 in the $175 range, and it has USB2 (only 10gb though)

ya usb.1 is the sucks but the way i look at it its not like its 2 gig hardrive that ill be switching music out of it left and right but at 20 gigs leave it overnight and in the morning got all my music there and wont have to worry about it for a long time, but this depends on the music you that would suck if you have like 80gigs,lol well you get get neuros backpacks outfitted with 80 gigs but you know what i mean
