Proper monitors and sub for multiple sources?

Okay so I know the title sounds a little confusing, but here is what I want to do. I am in the market for some monitors and subwoofer for my computer and for a midi controller with built in sound card. I am not fully up to par on how to hook the monitors and subwoofer up to either source. I was reading a little bit in another thread which talked about getting a subwoofer with low level inputs and outputs combined with XLR or TRS to RCA converters. Will these also work with midi controller?

So far these are my ideas for monitors and sub:

JBL LSR2310SP + JBL LSR2328P = $997

or

 M-Audio Studiophile BX5a Deluxe + M-Audio SBX10 = $634

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I know the sbx doesnt have low level and I am just straight confused.

Also the MIDI controller is the Traktor Kontrol S4 with these connections:

Dual 1/4" and RCA outputs

In advance thanks for the help.

Take a peek at the Sub and various speakers at www.audioengineusa.com. Well reviewed here and elsewhere.  Any type of pre-amp device would work with these.  You just need to find something with enough RCA inputs for your source gear, and one set of RCA outs to the Sub, then RCAs from the Sub to the powered speakers.

The gear you are listing is considered "pro" gear, and you can find a ton about it on the musician gear websites, www. sweetwater.com www.guitarcenter.com etc.

Pre-amp so I guess you are talking about a reciever of some sort. Any ideas?
