K701 / K702 balanced with a single sided cable....really?

So I've read and heard some conflicting opinions...

Is there any benefit to balancing a K701 / K702 with a single sided cable?

i doubt that balancing would soften the kazoos.

It would be like pouring a fine Béarnaise sauce over a rotting egg.

A 'balanced' cable only requires 4 wires. A single entry cable already can have 4 wires, but the K701 has a 3 pin connector which means that it fuses the ground. So you will not be getting real 'balanced' configuration.

The 3 pin connector can be change to 4 pin mini XLR. The cost is $2.59 on ebay : )VS-HSC1223-4P-S.jpgVS-HSC1223-4P-F.jpg

Acix,

do you have any other info/tips on replacing the connector?

And I can shove a portapro into a HD800 housing.

You can, but it doesn't mean it's easy.

I'm sure I read a thread on this, and about recabling the K701.

Search here or in the DIY section, it's there..

I am also trying to recabling the K702, but i'd like to have the "real" changing, by adding dual entries!!!

ie. i want to replace / add a mini-XLR on the right side earcup.

But i faced a problem, details in here

i am pleased to hear any advice on it. Thanks
