It's really mad to think that Shell makes money off people buying less gasoline.  They may be trying to jump on the clean energy bandwagon, but it's mostly for show.  It's like saying that an apple company is profiting from a study showing apples to be poisonous because they are investing in oranges.  clearly they would rather just continue to invest in apples?

Interesting to see these kinds of opinions.  Very surprising.

You need to see 'Cool It' w/ Bjorn Lomberg, you are missing the big picture about what mcnoiserdc is saying.  A reason people are tuning out is due to scientific and economic conspiracies propogated by corrupt scientists, entrepreneurs and mindless Eco Fascists.  Your blanket association of ethics w/ science is also naive.  The BS is so thick and the disenfranchisement so deep people are either pissed off, apathetic or both.  Just look at this thread, so much doom and gloom many people could give a rat's ass if everything does die.  At least the bitching and BS will end at that point.

Again, I highly recommend 'Cool It'.  It's the proper start to a serious dialogue that cleans up the mess Gore perpetrated.

No they do it to get published and gain promotions to make money just like any other self serving bastard.  Find me a scientist that donates 100% of their book earnings to a cause to fight climate change.  Maybe then we can discuss the integrity of scientists rather than blindly holding them on a pedestal elevating them beyond human attributes.  I love the self-righteous naivety of well, you know who.  The path to hell is paved w/ good intentions.

If they made a Honda that would rival a Ford F-250( diesel) for my business purpose( Construction) I might consider it. I cant see how my employees would fit all their tools in and on a prius. Do they even make ladder racks for Hondas.

I don't know why people can't get the concept that saving money on gas in a GOOD THING. Jesus, EVERY nitwit in my area of California drives a Ford F150. It's fugging ridiculous. Everyone is in a truck. Mass conciousness/herd mentality/unoriginal thought. I'm disgusted by it. California the land of forward thinking .... except when it comes to having to drive a behemoth truck to compensate for their lack of brains. I've been driving small Hondas for 35 years. They drive better, last longer and are great on gas. My old Civic hatch used to get 42mpg back in 1993! Why wouldn't you want to save money on gas? My dumb friend drives a Jeep and says he has to practically stop at the gas station twice a day for his commute to work. Ludacrist. Why are we so stupid in America? Gas shot up over $4 a gallon a year or two ago and everyone was talking Prius. It drops back down a dollar and everyone jumps back into a Ford Avalanche!  I personally HATE people who drive trucks. I loving staying the speed limit in my CIvi SI on the highway to piss them off (because they're speeding, of course) so I can listening to them floor their gas pedal, rev their engines and roar around me. I have to laugh thinking, "Okay fool, you just burned up three dollars worth of your paycheck to save 1.5 seconds of time." God, Americans, why are we so stupid with our trucks?
