Goal: Wire a mic to a tape adapter for a car stereo and transform the 3.5 mm jack to a 3.5 mm 3 channel jack that support a mic input and stereo output.
At the end of the day, I want to be able to plug my 3.5 mm jack into the jack of my cell phone and have the output go to the car stereo speakers via the tape adapter and the input be a microphone mounted on the dash or somewhere else.
Materials:
Standard 3.5 mm jack to tape input (see here for example
A broken 3.5 mm earbud + mic headset. There are four wires out from the 3.5 mm jack (red, blue, green and bronze (maybe orange)).
Wire Descriptions:
A: Green wire going to 3.5 mm jack
B: Bronze wire going to 3.5 mm jack
C: Blue wire going to 3.5 mm jack
D: Red wire going to 3.5 mm jack
E: White wire going to microphone
F: Bronze wire going to microphone
G: Red wire going tape adapter
H: Bronze wire going to tape adapter
I: Green wire going to tape adapter
J: Bronze wire going to tape adapter
I'm think of wiring all the bronze together (grounds?) and then matching up the green colors (I and A) and the red wires (D and G). Then connecting the white (E) and the blue (C).
Is this as simple as connecting the wires or do I need to watch out for anything or be aware of anything?
