Just a random bump to see if anyone else has any new music. I have a craving. It's been what, seven months?

If you're up for something a little different, you should check this band out... BATTLES. Here's the opener from their new album Gloss Drop.

EDIT: This album just popped into my head. It's Karate's live album, 595. Some great Jazz-rock. Killer guitar solos, cool vocals, and some great basslines.

If you don't have it, you need Live at Benaroya Hall. It's a mostly acoustic set with a great setlist. When PJ tours the US again you have to go.  The best live show there is.  You can get ready for it here: http://www.pearljambootlegs.org/modules/jinzora2/

Enjoy!

I LIKE IT! Battle too... But I now know I like Jazz Rock.

I'll give that album a listen Radio, thanks!

Anyway, now that I have some time.... If anyone cares:

Jacks Mannequin: I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew McMahon personally backstage through my family, and wow what a performance. It didn't hurt that I ALREADY loved his music, but wow.

My brother passed away a few years ago, and this song hits me pretty hard now that I know the backstory. Andrew recorded this acoustic version while in the hospital going through Chemotherapy. You can feel the emotion in his voice... It's really a beautiful song. When he played it in his show here in S.F. he told my mother after the show that in his head he had dedicated it to her... Just a really good person.

Paul Freeman: Doesn't have much music out there but he was great live. He opened for Roger Daltrey on the Tommy Tour and I'm a fan.

Operation Ivy: Classic Ska rediscovered. "Unity" has a line in it that seems really beautifully written. (Wierd?):

"Civilization ha I call it as I see it
I call it bulls"p"it you know I still cannot believe it
Our evolution now has gone the way of hate
A world evolved resolved into this stupid fate"

Foster the People: Let me be honest, I hate Pumped up Kicks. The REST of their music is great too! "Warrant" is certainly a favorite.

Rhyno: "Ambivalence" Dubstep anyone?

Here's another. I bet you'll enjoy this a lot based on what you've been posting.

The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I

They're okay... Kinda eclectic imho...

I've been listening to Oasis too. Ripped an old CD in FLAC. "The Shock of Lightning" is a great song. So is "Don't Look Back in Anger".

Styx "Renegade" Is awesome. All of Styx is awesome. But Renegade specifically. One of the catchiest choruses ever.

Yes' Providence Civic Center Live album is incredible too.

I also found some random recording of Rhapsody in Blue in 24/96. Spectacular! It's surprisingly awesome on KSC75's.

If you want to try some classical, Mahler's symphonies are pretty amazing. Extreme dynamics and some pretty epic brass parts.

Not sure if I missed it in all of the postings, but if your into beautiful strings, try 'Adagio for Strings' by Samuel Barber (There are also choral versions as well):

No I did not have it! I've certainly heard it but I never really listened to it critically. It's quite beautiful.

^Beautiful... No kidding. I also like Miserere for the haunting vocals. And, I just started hanging out with a classically inclined college girl this first semester at BYU-Idaho!

On a more obscure note, I also appreciate "Invisible City" by Beight, and artist on www.magnatune.com

Then there's more mainstream artists like:

-The Killers (along with Brandon Flowers solo album, "Flamingo," which seemed to be a flop, but has a few great songs.)

-Florence & the Machine

-Pet Shop Boys

Hi Mdra, I love these sorts of threads as I love music of all sorts(except for chart stuff) and spend a lot of my free time hunting down new music...not good for my wallet though lol

I stumbled across this thread at work so havent been able to checkout other people's suggestions yet, but looking forward to over the next week or so.

Heres a few varied bands\albums that I keep comin back to time and time again:

Band - Album - Sample Track

Blackmountain - Wilderness - Old Fangs    ....Great pounding bass riff throughout this track...

The Steeldrivers - The Steeldrivers - Blue Side of the Mountain   ....Bluegrass - great acoustic guitar, Dobro and banjo.....

Anathema - We're here because we're here - Thin Air  ....Prog metal along the lines of Porcupine Tree

Anathema - We're here because we're here - Everything ...has a euphoric uplifiting quality to it

Enjoy

Also.... "Classically inclined college girls" sounds pretty awesome. A copious portion of multitudinous epic win.

electrocuted Wilma tunes is a showcase label for the music, films, videos and artwork of Paul Hayworth.

Charting consistantly in the Austrian Indie charts as guitarist in the band 'Freud' and learning his trade in England, now the first in a series of concept albums is released via Bandcamp. www.electrocuted.moonfruit.com

He has been said to make music like paintings..... . .  .

The album consists of quite a few journey tracks and he uses exotic instruments to propel you through the audio universe.

First off the solid state tape reel, the brand new album: Goodlove & The Dirty Plan -
