My Shures!!!!

So I was in NYC last night coming from party drunk as hell on subway and someone pickpocket me for my cigarettes, sony walkman x1000, and my SHURE SE530's which I just had replaced last frackin month.  I know I didn't drop them cause i smoked a cigarrette before getting on the train and remember placing the cigs in the same jacket pocket.  When i woke up they were GONE.  It feel like someone stole my child.  Not worried bout the walkman, I have three older models I can use but damn the se535's are $500 and it seems like since the 530's are discontinued amazon has gone up on the price they can't be found for 300 any more.  Strangely, I don't mind paying 300 for headphones, but 500?  can anyone reccomend a headphone in the 2-300 dollar range?

The Custom-3 should work for an SE530 user. The cable is a bit fussy but they are $99. They are also from Adorama which is in NY which is good except for the tax. Research them. Lucozades' IEM journey thread is a good one for SE530 and Custom-3 impressions(short story = Custom-3 sounded slightly better but SE530 slightly better all things considered). 

 

I think they are $99 on ebay(through Adorama) but $109 on Amazon(again through Adorama) so might as well save the $10.

SE420 (now 425) might be worth a try. Not like SE530 at all, but more neutral and precise-feeling sound. It costs $259 at buy.com.

I own the 420's (cord is now broke, but I didn't care enough for the sound quality to send in for warranty) also the scl4's(cord issue as well, second return out of warranty now).  I've been a shure ho for sometime now.  Really want the 535's but 500....unless I win big at the track or something, it's a no go until they come down in price.  I have my eyes right now on the panasonic hje, klipsch custom 3, IE8's.  Can anybody give suggestions regarding these?  Also, for the few months the 530's sat in my drawer, I was pretty satisfied with the headphones that come with the X1000(after burn in), they don't sell them retail, is there a comparable sony retail headphone? (not the EX please, those were horrible)
