-need it for my dj system (xlr or rca)

Tannoy has updated its Mercury series with a new entry-level range:
Quoted from a hi-fi magazine:
The Mercury V range takes advantage of a new soft-dome tweeter that is engineered to the same tolerances as the more expensive models. This is partnered with a new pulp-fibre, mid/bass cone. Other upgrade include slightly larger cabinets, with the internal bracing revised to improve the bass response.
This is then topped off with an upgraded crossover, featuring silver-plated wiring and new (Differential Material Technology) damping on the HF capacitors for a 'class-leading acoustic performance.'
Tannoy also claim that the new range is compatible with any of its TS active subwoofers for multichannel use.
however, Tannoy's UK prices may differ from the US's a lot, unfortunately. worth to consideration or audition nevertheless, I guess.
magazine's other top picks:
Polk RTi A1 speaker system ($1410)
NHT Absolute Zero speaker system ($1294)
Harman Kardon HKTS 30 speaker system ($999)

If a sub is what you are after though, spend atleast 300 or more on the sub. HSU makes some really good subs for the money, REL and SVS are also worth looking at, but REL is pricier. HSU's 12 incher is a mean machine and can bring a house down.
If you are going for a bigger better sub, then you would be crossing over the fronts, in which case you can either get bookshelf speakers or smaller floorstanders. There are lot of budget options from Polk, JBL, Infinity and Klipsch that can get you two towers and center with rears for 1000$. THe new Pioneer line of speakers from Bestbuy has gotten very good impressions and is amazing value for the money. The front towers are just 199 a pair and the matching center is 80 bucsk with the rear bookshelves at 90$. I cant imagine anything else in that sort of price range coming close to that performance. Those are definitely worth checking out if you want to stick to <1000$ for the entire setup. Also worth looking at are the Polk Rti series mentioned above and the Inifinity Primus range.
Ideally you want the same line or same speaker all around, but its not such a big deal if you have a different brand/speaker for the rears. Atleast try and match the center and fronts for best sound though.
