Denon D5000 or NuForce Icon HDP

Thread Starter

At the moment I'm using some ATH A700's and an x-fi card. I've got the cash for one or the other at the moment so I was looking for opinions on which would probably provide me with the better experience for some weeks until I can purchase the other.

Also, if either of these seems like bad decision or you have some advice, feel free to speak up.

Im not to familiar with the headphones you currenty have but i will say that the nu force hdp is a great piece to have. It offers bascialy the best bang for your buck and then some!! . It sure will make your current headphones sound better as long as you use the corect file types ( preferaby uncompressed).

Seriously  i would buy the nuforce to have it then get the 5000 later and you will be set.

your music should sound noticaby better with it right off the bat and you will have a good headphone amp to drive the cans as well.

Even listening at  low voumes using the dac/amp, the headphones should have an overall improvement in sound.

I'll second Mobiletech advice.  Get the HDP.  This gives you a source and amp all at once.  The DAC section is good enough to be used later on if you ever upgrade the amp.  Its a rock solid way to begin your decent... Ah-ha-cough... I mean ascent into our great hobby.
