About two weeks ago now, I started to take my addiction for quality sound more seriously. After taking a quick look around the What.cd community for gears, I found that most discussions pointed towards HeadFi as a reference/source. For a while now, I was interested in finding some custom sleeves for my Monster Turbine Pro Gold after I saw the wonders of the like of the JH16s.
After some more reading, I decided to give the Shure SE535s a go as soon as I get my next paycheck (next week). It triggered my purchase of the SE115s so I can feel what kind of sound sig Shure gives. Then again, I tried to find custom sleeves for the two Shures.
Looking around the forum here and there, I was able to get some ressources to find what I needed from time to time. Maybe it's just me and Head-Fi actually have a thread about it, but I want to make a list of custom sleeves makers and companies that offer reshelling services, which , in a nutshell, are pretty similar. They are all about getting more bang for your buck by customizing your cans to your personal usage.
So far, what I gathered:
Custom Sleeves
- Sensaphonics (They have a partnership with Shure and officially provide custom sleeves for them.)
- ACS
- 1964
- Westone UM56 (They fit Shures and Earsonics)
Reshelling (Remolding)
- Unique Melody (for the US)
- 1964
- InEarz (a Fisher Hearing manufacturer)
I'll update the list as they come along.
Feel free to hijack the post to review the above companies. I'll be looking in the forum for examples of HeadFiers that used their services. (for the US)
I wouldn't mind some help though
I come from somewhat strict private tracker community which had a bunch of rules about what to post or not, is there such a thing at Head-Fi? I was looking to make a list of shops where you can find/test headphones in Montreal.
I'm still looking for alternatives custom sleeves for my (future) Shures and MTPGs.
