Evenin gentlemen and femagents, I'm a total noob and was hopin to join an audio community.

I've just took my first baby steps into exploring the world of enhanced audio. Coming from overclock.net ive been researching into some new cans to get and through research I was directed to this wonderful forum of information on audio equipment. I'm a total noob all around when it comes to audio, my first real headphones were a pair of gimmick "surround sound" pieces of garbage which i still have to this day. I've got a lot to learn and I hope you guys can help another noob on my quest to possible becoming an audiophile one day wink.gif. cheers

well i was just saying hi but the more input i receive the better, i made a post on overclock.net for my need. i do about 80/90% gaming and the rest music used on a PC with an Asus Zonar DX, no amp as of this moment. i also like having a little bit of bass and the members on overclock recommended i get a pair of ATH-A700 or the ATH-AD700. I would prefer a closed back so lately i had my eyes on an A700. If you have any other recommendations i would be happy to listen. preferably under 150$ at the moment. I even sent a gentlemen a PM on the FS thread but i don't know if he took me seriously seeing as i just joined and only have 1 post. he hasn't replied yet.

In the case of the latter, you'll get what you want all too literally.

Welcome to Head-Fi. I'm a forum n00b myself, though I've been involved with the hobby and its discussions long enough to know a bit.

is the bass overbearing?

Quite the opposite. You said you wanted a bit of bass, and they'll give you that...and no more.  They're light and airy, though not particularly bassy.
