Amps on Hardware Synth

Hi there,

I'm new here, but perhaps you guys could help me answer a question I've had for a while.

How good are the headphone amps on hardware synthesizers?  Specifically, I have a Virus TI (Desktop, TI1).  I'd like to plug in a pair of AKG k701s directly into its headphone out, but I'm not sure if that'll be such a great idea (I don't have the k701s yet).  I haven't been able to find much information about the output impedance etc of the outputs on the virus.  I did talk to one guy who claimed they've "never had a problem before," but that's clearly not conclusive.

I'm not really planning on doing extensive listening or anything through it, but I'd at least like to get a "neutral" frequency response and a tight bass.

Any help would be great!  Thanks ahead of time.

It's hard to tell without any proper specs and components used, and even then that's just half the story.

Best is to actually plug in and listen, but I understand you don't have your headphones yet... so that's going to be a bit of a problem unless you can borrow it from a friend.

I see.  Thanks for the reply.

I look forward to trying them out then.  I do know someone with a pair, but unfortunately she's half way across the continent right now... oh well!

Thanks again for your info.
