I might suggest doing a quick google search on what feedback is from TUC services...

Very controversial!  And interesting discussion.  Thanks for mentioning it.  What to do...  Anyway changes are a ways off so I am only compiling a list of players at the moment.

Edit:  WOW there is some HEATED discussion about The Upgrade Company on some of those forums!  Unbelievable.  It is almost as much ire as Singlepower discussions.

Yeah I'd be a bit wary about the "we mod anything!" companies. Companies like Cullen Circuits are different, they have a direct relationship with PS and know what they are doing with PS mods. Same with Noble and their upgrades for vintage EAD stuff.

The transport is no joke too using a custom specced vrds transport from teac (Esoteric etc) and can be slaved to the dac via the spectralink connection for jitterless connectivity. That being said I don't find it worth the money unless I was a good bit richer and really looking for the best cost no object sound.

We did some blind shootouts and determined independently between 3 guys that we heard a difference between it and my RME card, but whereas my card is 250-300 bucks and the spectral transport is 2-3k... it just didn't seem to be quite the value proposition for me to sink my money into.

I'm not unaware of the controversy surrounding TUC and RAM, but I'm purely going on my own experience. I sent my Reimyo in, I got it back in about 10 days, and it sounded alarmingly better than it did before the upgrade. I'm not talking about a subtle "well, maybe it's better and I'll just go along with it", I'm talking "OMFG I can't believe what I'm hearing!". I would love to know what could account for that difference if what they do is, indeed, so shoddy and inconsequential.

i use a da924. it is still in production and could be considered by some as "old technology". not according to dan lavry though. he has a reason for it only being 96khz. i guess the oven is considered sota. anyhow, i love the way it sounds.

the sound of a dac is not really coming from the d/a ic but everything else inside the box imo.
