Budget crysis! uDac-2 or STX? DT880 250ohm

I recently ordered a pair of dt880s(250ohm).  I read a review on them stating that with the STX they were the holy grail of gaming so I was dead set on getting this combo.  After I posted that I was buying them somebody messaged me and told me I should get a matrix mini amp instead of the STX as it would run the DTs much better.

 

Keep in mind I'm using these for MOSTLY gaming(I do enjoy my music but I am in no means an audiophile.... yet) and they will be only hooked up to a PC.  Which would you choose to get? the Asus Xonar essense or the udac-2(or some other amp LESS than $200)

My votes for the uDAC.  I used mine and drove the DT990, 250 ohm version just fine.  Sounded great.  Granted a better amp did improve the situation, but the uDAC did not struggle or clip.

I'm really leaning towards the udac at this point because I figure even if it doesn't do an amazing job I can always use it as a preamp.  I'm just wondering if I'll get the same directional and surround sound accuracy as a sound card thats meant for pcs out of it.

Lol great to know.  Im bidding on the octavart "The One" amp it seems to fit my headphones pretty well as far as the freq range and ohm allowance.
