source-$600

amp-$500

headphones-I dont see myself spending anywhere over $800

cables-$50-$100

My most expensive headphones were $170 and i would have a hard time going over $250

 

My most expensive amps cost a bit over $200 to build.

 

I think i paid $400 for the TX-SR707 in my home theater rig, and it was worth every penny.

 

I don't really play the expensive sources game. Other than nice quality DAPs.

Ok, it looks like I'm going to have to expand my headphone max to $1000. After spending the last couple of days reading about the LCD-2, I really want them now!

there is no answer to this as everything is dependent on income or available funds for non-essential items plus how committed (or interested in) one is to the hobby.
