Hello all M50 lovers, I got a pair of M50 (Coiled version) last Thursday (and new to the forums), and I have been enjoying the sound of these cans very much. I had been using EIM for few years, and after reading so many exiting reviews of M50 for many months, I decided to get me these. And the all the great reviews did not disappoint me.

However, I am little worry that my M50 bleeds sound somewhat. I never used any full size headphones before, so I don't have anything to compare with, but I can hear the sound from more than 10 feet away when the volume is set to more than 65% of my iPhod (iPhone). I checked this while my daughter was listening. Is this normal? I am little worried because I share the office with others and it is rather quite office. And I do not bother my office mates. I was hoping to use these cans at work.

I guess I can turn the volume down to less than half, but it seems the sound is at best when the volume level is between 60% and 70% on my iPhod. Am I listening too loud? I had been using Sennheiser CX 500 for many years, and I was satisfied with low volume (about 35%) from my iPhod, but with M50, I like the sound at around 60%.

I have read many reviews on this topic, and it seems most of people were satisfied with the isolation these cans provide, so it gets me thinking I have a bad pair. Or is there a way to reduce or eliminate the sound bleeding?

Thanks for your helps in advance.

60% for a M50 is around what I used when I had a pair of M50's, when you're testing them out, is it dead silent? because it's quite likely any external noise will drown out any bleedthrough

You can say it is dead silent. I tested it at home and no one was talking and no TV at the time. And again, my office area is very quite - may be not quite as at home but close.

I don't remember anyone ever complaining about my M50's then again, the house (hold) seems oblivious to my grados....I doubt your M50's are defective, try them at work, if somebody complains then turn the volume down or maybe purchase a pair of IEMs, (tip: during a lunch break, ask your colleagues if it really bothers them, then you'll look really considerate)

I have the coiled version of the M-50 too, but it seems that there's only significant bleeding when the cups are open. There's not much bleeding when wearing them or if you have the headphones in a position where the cups cover each other. Try using a thick book or something simulate someone wearing the headphones -you can judge what you think is too much bleeding.
