Fort those of you who have the black cable, is the wire completely encased in plastic/rubber, or is it similar to the clear cable where each wire is braided in some sort of material?

Same thing as the clear cable, just black

Darn that's annoying then, my clear ones have already started turning blue. From what I've heard it doesn't affect the sound, but I guess the black cable will hide it better than the clear one.

I guess an aftermarket cable could be an option but when it looks like they'll cost $80+ it's kind of daunting.

dealing with the same..

looked at toxic cables.. quite expensive.

il be going to hongkong in my "dutch summer break" maybe i can snatch some cables cheap over there.

Lear has a store in mongkok where i can try all their cables they got alot of cables beside their own brand .

their lear chihuahua starts at 600 HKD which is a Silver plated copper cable.

i was also looking for a amp ( my first one) still not sure which one to choose.

C5 seems like a good entry amp.

and about LOD's does Fiio vs. custom LOD's differ that much?

Wait, what? Your black cable isn't going to change color...

I have not been on this forum for a long time, but just received my triples back from 1964ears, and had to say something!

I sent them last week because I had a problem, the cable connector for my right earphone snapped inside the IEM, so I couldn't even remove it. So I sent them in, and told them what the problem was.

I got the return package on MONDAY, with my IEMs fixed and a brand new 64" black cable.

I can say without a doubt that 1964ears has provided the best service from any company I have dealt with before. I am glad to see that as they are expanding their line, and growing as a company, they still take the time and effort to take care of their customers. I hope it stays that way too!

Proud 1964ears-T owner for 2 years, still running strong!

I was referring more to sweat getting into the cable, which I assumed would be causing the colour change and would occur (although not visibly) with the black cable as well (since you said the cables were identical except for colour). Does the 'blue-ing' happen with all clear OFC cables, or is it just a Westone Epic thing?

Black cables never change color, because well, they're black.

The clear cables change because the material oxidizes....and it's clear, so you end up seeing it.

So the black cables are still oxidising inside, only you just can't see it? I'm curious - does this happen with all IEM cables, even those that are unbraided and sheathed in plastic/vinyl? I can see the copper shielding inside my Vsonic cables and they're not blue/green at all.

I think every cable will oxidized . since while you use it , some part of the cable will contact with your skin, even though you have a very dry skin, you still got oil on it and that oil also will speed up or cause the cable oxidize. I hope you know what I mean.

For my opinion,FiiO's LODs are fewer choices for customers, and you cannot choose what the material is made with in order to fit in your own sound requirement. However, custom made LODs got the advantages here, you can order as you like, and I found it custom made LODs have a better looking. For AMPs , there are couple of store selling different kinds of AMPs, and you can try the demo as well and to decide which one are the best for you. Last but not least , I'm a Hong Kong citizen , I hope I can help yousmile_phones.gif
