Ok so technical folks, what would be the biggest sonic differences between this three way and the old line ?

I've noticed that for starters, 3-way designs tend to have a more spacious presentation than 2-way models. This is just an observation based on the various 2 and 3-way models that I have, and by no means is this a universal truth.

3-way design means they can potentially get more out of each driver. With each one focusing on a more specific range, they could get more extension and better clarity out of the same array of drivers. Again, this is all in theory, and there are some great sounding 2-way models out there... like the 1964-T for example.

I wonder if this means the V6 and V8 models will be coming soon?

I predict a V6 around November.

Seriously though, I want these things. I want to pit them head-to-head with my JH10X3's and see what comes out on top.

I do like that they have taken their time. For a while there, 1964 was the talk of the forum here, and they could have easily capitalized on that by releasing new models.... even if they weren't quite up to the same standards as the current batch. They still would have made a bunch of money on them regardless.

I'd also be curious about the 10X3 comparison - that's sort of the "forgotten" model in the JH lineup since nobody really talks about it much.

Guess it goes to show how serious Vitaliy and Co. are about their work.

If I recall correctly the V6's is supposed to be modeled for audiophiles as opposed to musicians, so I would assume that the V3's probably will be as well. And if that's the case, then I think 1964 Ears may have the spotlight put back on them.

I'm cursed with being able to fit a limited number of drivers in one ear, so I had to go with the middle of the road model.

Guess that'll leave me in a prime position to make the comparison here though, since most 10X3 owners on here have opted to move up the the JH13's.

Being that I have several other big buys to make for my home setup first I don't think I'll be able to be an early adopter for the V3's though.

If I order a Triple now, would I get the new one?

Might send them an email about it :)

I'm getting acquainted with my reshelled Quads, and I'm beginning to get used to customs (these are my first). I won't go into a full on review, but I've been playing them out of an unamped J3 with stock cables and a flat eq, and they sound fairly neutral to my untrained ears, except for the emphasis in the bass. They are pretty dependent on the quality of the recording, so, in that respect, they remind me of my GR07s. I have to say that UM really nailed the fit for me - such a relief! My ears are getting used to these more and more, so they don't feel nearly as strange when inserted. I haven't had much time to have a serious session with them, so I'm going to button my lips for the time being. I have custom cables on the way, but I'll make sure I'm well acquainted with my stock setup before I do any sort of ABing.

I don't actually see a way to order the new V3 on their website just yet. I imagine it will be an additional model alongside the original Triples, presumably for a slight price increase. Perhaps they will eventually move to replace the original line with the V series line, or maybe they will keep them both concurrently. This is all just speculation though.

Well, it actually does matter for editing images.  It's easier to make something look nice and smooth(less fake) when you have more to work with.  Also for the professional it matters since many do sell prints, but yes for the average consumer no not really...but look it has bigger numbers that means better right? wink_face.gif

My feelings on the quads as well.  I will not bother with recabling.  I have played with EQ and find that about +3. db from about 7K on up adds just a bit of nice sparkle, so I do this on occasion.  I prefer this to the ~6. db cut I've experimented with from about 500 Hz on down.

I'll let you know how the cable affects it, if at all. I'm hoping the soundstage improves.

Have you contacted them? Thats almost 2 months. I would call or email them to see what the hold up is. That's pretty excessive...

How did you ship your impressions to them?

Also you should get in touch with them to see what's going on.
