I have my library ripped right now at 192kbps and I'm planning on upgrading to either 320kbps, vbr, or lossless (haven't decided on the format yet). my 16gb ipod touch was fine before but I don't think it would fit my stuff if I upgrade to a higher quality rip, so I'm planning on buying a new portable player, and I'm looking for some suggestions
here's what i'm looking for so far:
capacity: has to be huge, at least 80gb or 12gb. more would be nicer. looking around and I see that ipod classics has 160gb. the cowons and archos that I looked at maxed at about 32gb, which I think is not enough
style/looks: i want something that looks classy/modern/sophisticated. kinda like the high end cowons, archos, or the ipods. I'm not digging the looks of the sansa clips and the fuze
OS compatibility: i've always wanted to reformat my pc and install ubuntu, but itunes is the only reason why i'm not doing this right now. So for OS compatibility, anything Linux compatible is nice, although I could probably live with an ipod if I don't find any other choices.
portability: it has to fit in my pocket. something in the size of an ipod classic would be ideal
extra features: don't really care. i had this ipod touch for a while and i don't really use these apps. they're nice to have, but won't necessarily affect my decision
video: also don't care
format: mp3 definitely, lossless is a plus
rockbox: also a plus if it's compatible (or if a port is in the works)
price: about $250 or less
so basically, i need some suggestions on a good portable music player. thanks guys
