my budget is around 200$ (i cant add too much to that...maybe a few bucks).

Basicly, the pair i will buy will be used for studio uses...such as music creations and mixing.

The genres im dealing with are most of the time death metal and electronics so concider that while recommanding me the best pair for my use.

It will also be nice if the headphones will fit for a daily music listening (i mean the music i like to listen to for fun...not for working) which includes the genres i already mentioned.

I aleady got some recommandations for the AKG K242HD\K272HD and Sony MDR 7509HD, I'd like to hear your opinion about them.

Sorry if you got comfused from my poor english.

If you didnt understand somthing tell me and i will try to explaing it better.

thanks.

SHURE - SRH 840 - these are for professional use and give amazing clean sound quality - very balanced and great natural sound - staging - strong sound isolation and amazing timbral detail - everything you recorded - you will hear with these - PLUS very cheap -

BTW - they are worth three times this price in terms of SQ and build...

They are a must! Made by musicians for musicians

K272 seem coloured to me even though they are studio cans. They are also brighter and haven't got much bass. They are however very light compared to M-50 and Shure 840

how are the Shure 840 compared to the AKG 242HD ?which are more suitable for music production ? Are the Shure's requiere an amp ?

I can't vouch for the AKG 242HD but what I can tell you for the SHURE SRH 840 - is that they are specifically made for professional monitoring studio use.

These 840s do not need an amp at all  - and they come with extra pads and two different threaded jacks for different plug ins. And the 840s are excellently and easily driven. You would only need an amp if you are wanting to use an mp3 player or ipod - because these sound sources are just not up giving the 840s good enough sound quality - but this is the issue with any quality headphone matched with an mp3 player... such a small machine will not give you great sound. That's not the headphones fault at all...so for mp3 player use - with any headphone you probably want to get an amp. For studio use - no need for amp.

For studio use - the 840s are amazing. I am a musician. Concert pianist. And I use these babies in my studio and I just love them. You hear exactly what you recorded - crystal clear and with a solid black silence behind the sounds recorded - it really gives GREAT silence...

Since I can't pass them on for you to hear - check out these reviews. All I can say is when I first used these - my jaw dropped - so totally astonishing was the quality. I was re-hearing music I had heard all my life - with much more detail and nuances that I had missed before. And - very balanced - amazing sound stage - you feel like you are in front of an orchestra or band - and the instrumental separation was phenomenal.

Thank you very much for the comment ! i'll probably go on the 840....when ill get enough money :D BTW, my current phones are the RE0 (in ear) which considered very good by SQ, i wonder if the 840 will make my jaw fall after that

Yes - they well indeed. I know IE's do really well in some areas of listening - and I am in the process of getting a pair myself sometime soon. However, I  do not think IEs are best for studio use. I know that many companies make monitor reference IEs including SHURE (more for performance usage than studio usage) and I will be buying a pair of the SE535s soon but I would use them only in very noise places. Other than that - I will be sticking to the SRH840s.

But hey - take a listen to hit first and go with a bunch of your favorite music in lossless first to hear them perform. That's what I did - so I know I got much much more in value than I actually paid for...

I didnt even thought about using the IE's for studio purposes...they just dont fit for this, atleast not for me. i just wonder if the 840 will noticably sound better than my IE phones while listening to my favorite music (lossless of course :D ).

I would think so - the SHURE SRH 840 are neutral and balanced and the bass is there when the music requires it. The high end of the pitch spectrum is there too and many phones all ends of the spectrum right - these do.

If you like to hear nuance, clarity, timbral detail and deep sound-staging - these will put a smile on your face.

I would get the Sonys, they should be a bit more neutral than the Shures.
